Principal Investigator
Constantinos Chamzas
Constantinos Chamzas is an Assistant Professor in Robotics Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2023 at Rice University. He directs the Efficient Learning and Planning for Intelligent Systems (ELPIS) Lab. His research interests lie in algorithmic robotics, focusing on integrating learning-based methods with classic robotic planning algorithms.

Zhuoyun Zhong
Zhuoyun (Joey) Zhong has a profound interest in empowering robots to solve long-horizon real-life problems. Currently, he works on enhancing task and motion planning algorithms with learning capability. Before joining WPI, he completed his undergraduate degree in Automotive Engineering at Jilin University. His research interest lie in Task and Motion planning and Robot Learning.
Ali Golestaneh
Ali Golestaneh is passionate about advancing robotic systems to enhance their efficiency. His research focuses on task planning algorithms for pushing arbitrary objects in uncertain environments and using learning models to optimize robotic performance. Before his PhD, Ali earned a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology, where he designed and implemented control systems for mobile robots, exploring locomotion strategies to improve capabilities.
Abhiroop Ajith
Abhiroop is passionate about empowering robots to solve complex, real-world tasks. Currently, he is focused on integrating learning methods with visual task planning to enhance robots’ capabilities in unstructured environments. Before joining his PhD program, Abhiroop worked at Siemens Research, where he developed robotic solutions for industrial applications. He completed his Master’s degree in Robotics at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and his Bachelor’s degree in Robotics at PSG College of Technology.
